Pupil premium
What is it?
Pupil premium is additional funding allocated to spend on improving the education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.
Who is it for?
The money is allocated based on the number of pupils who have been entitled to receive free school meals at any point over the past six years. Schools also receive funding for children who are looked after by the local authority or have been adopted from care. There is additional funding (not based on disadvantage) for any pupils with a parent who is serving in HM Forces or has retired on a pension from the Ministry of Defence.
Can I Register My Child?
If your child does not have free school meals but may be eligible because of your family’s income level, please contact the school office (in confidence) to register them. Even if you do not wish for your child to have a free school meal, registering them will enable the school to claim pupil premium funding that will benefit your child.
